Local gymnasts place at national championships
Two local high school gymnasts were part of a team that took second place at the National High School Gymnastics Championships on Friday in Fort Worth.
Bryan senior Alyssa Zawieja finished second in the all-around competition and won the vault. She was second in the uneven bars, third in the balance beam and fifth in the floor exercise. Team Texas finished second in the overall competition. Zaweija has signed to compete collegiately with Centenary College in the fall.
A&M Consolidated senior Allison Campbell, also competing for Team Texas, finished sixth on the uneven bars.
