Former Consol Tiger called up to Class A
Former A&M Consolidated standout Bobby Bramhall was called up to the Milwaukee Brewers' Class A West Virginia Power team Thursday after an impressive stint with the Helena Brewers.
The left-handed pitcher, who opted to turn professional instead of coming back for his senior year at Rice University, was 3-0 in the rookie league at Helena with a 2.03 earned run average. Helena, which competes in the North Division of the Pioneer League, won the first half.
He had 10 appearances, including three starts, pitching 31 innings with 35 strikeouts and 11 walks. He gave up 23 hits.
West Virginia is 31-34 in the Northern Division of the South Atlantic League in sixth place among eight teams.
Bramhall helped Rice reach the College World Series last year. He was 4-2 with a 2.36 ERA in 26 appearances. He pitched 53 1/3 innings with 47 strikeouts, allowing 36 hits.
He was drafted in the 18th round by the Brewers.
